Band:

St. Paul’s Band program is
offered to students in grades 4-8. The directors for our
various band levels are highly qualified musicians whose
primary work is at Concordia Lutheran High School (directing
and conducting a number of different instrumental groups at
the high school level). They are also affiliated with other
musical organizations in the community. All band students
will have group and/or private instruction 3 days/week
during the school day. More detailed information for those
interested in our band program is available at school
registration and/or the school office.
Beginning Band:
At the beginning of the school year, all 4th
graders are introduced to the different instrumental
opportunities offered through our band program (presentation
by our band directors during the school day). With parent
guidance and approval, the 4th graders may then
choose if they would like to participate in beginning
band and what instrument to play. This is a very
fundamental level of instruction for our students, providing
the necessary foundation to continue band at the
intermediate and advanced band levels. NO INSTRUMENTAL
EXPERIENCE or TRAINING is required. All 4th
graders are invited to participate.
Intermediate Band:
This group typically consists of students in grades 5 and 6,
and continues group instrumental/musical training at a
noticeably higher level than beginning band.
Intermediate Band equips our students to continue at the
Advanced Band level in grades 7 and 8.
Advanced Band:
While this group is typically comprised of our more advanced
instrumental musicians in grades 7 and 8, at the band
director’s discretion, some younger, more proficient
musicians may be invited to participate in Advanced Band.
This is a high school band preparatory program that
challenges students in a wide variety of musical styles and
performance levels.
All band levels participate in
a Christmas and Spring Concert, as well as having the
opportunity to perform at the annual fine arts festival held
at Concordia Lutheran High School in Spring. |
